Der kaltschnäuzige, aber erfolgreiche Chef der Schlagerband DIE CLIPPERS, Muddy Baumann, stellt Frontsängerin Rita kalt. Die Gründe: Alkohol, Stimmversagen, das Alter. Noch ein Auftritt auf dem Maimarkt in Mannheim, dann soll Schluss sein mit ihrer Karriere. Was Muddy nicht weiß: Vor 20 Jahren gab Rita nach einer geheim gehaltenen Schwangerschaft die gemeinsame Tochter zur Adoption frei – der Karriere wegen.
