Lady Diana Huxley is a Brontë heroine lost in a Jane Austen fever-dream. Haunted, heartbroken, and abruptly sent to live with her newly-married cousin in a palatial country estate, Diana just wants to blend in. Utterly unfamiliar with the customs and culture of Regency Era high society, Diana is more than content to play the role of silent companion to her chatty cousin, Maggie. She certainly didn’t come to New Glenbury to fall in love.

But when the handsome and happy-go-lucky Hudson Birch moves to the estate next door, two meddling matrons, Constance and Elizabeth, take it upon themselves to play matchmaker. Soon, Diana unwittingly finds herself at the center of a grand conspiracy with the entire village of New Glenbury in cahoots to give her the appearance of possessing all the accomplishments she so obviously lacks. What could possibly go wrong? A lot, apparently.

Accomplishments and Accomplices is a charming romantic comedy about the joy of self-discovery, the power of female friendships, and the perils of falling in love.

I'm the author's dad, so there's that. But I want to rave about the narration by Anne-Lise Kadri.

Of course I read the book in manuscript early on, and I loved the tight chapters, each a little story unto itself.

What I was frankly astonished by was how the narration brought the different characters to life. Our narrator inflects each speaker with their own dialect or pace, really their own history. It is subtle and it just adds another dimension to the work.

Exceptional narration

A cozy charmer

Biting, clear, funny, clever prose, with relatable and exciting relationship dynamics. A lovely escape, I was consistently eager each day to forget about the present day and catch up on the latest drama, advice and repair happening amongst the residents of New Glenbury. With lots of witty cutting metaphors and little quick analyses that reminded me of Austen or Wilde. Narration is fantastic, I'm glad I waited for the audiobook version!

Delightfully witty

This was such an enjoyable listen! The author's fabulous storytelling and delectable descriptions, combined with a talented English narrator, totally immersed me into the Jane Austen style setting of the historical fiction town of New Glenbury. Charming, witty, and had me smiling throughout.
