Is loader worth dying for?

Here is your modest size appetiser for the series. Much shorter than my life. Hi, I am Min. My story takes you to a dying Earth where hope is as rare as the life that once flourished. Lez and I, united by love and a desperate mission to save humanity, are determined to find the last remaining loader—a being with the power to change everything. Something about us persuaded Vist to help relocate our people to a distant colony beneath a red star. And this book is just beginning.

Act & Vist: At the Beginning is a phenomenal start to the Who Is Vist series. Anka B. Troitsky has crafted a chillingly plausible dystopian world that feels just around the corner. As a prequel, this short technothriller does a fantastic job of setting the stage, exploring the origins of the enigmatic Vist and the oppressive technological systems that dominate society. The story is tight, tense, and packed with thought-provoking ideas about surveillance, identity, and control. It's a perfect, bite-sized introduction that leaves you eager to dive into the main series.
What truly brings this chilling world to life is the absolutely amazing narration by Hilary White. Their performance is outstanding. They masterfully handle the story's pacing, building suspense and capturing the high-tech, low-life atmosphere perfectly. Their voice for the main character is compelling, conveying a mix of vulnerability and resolve that makes their journey feel real and urgent. It’s one of those performances that elevates an already great story into a must-listen experience.
I highly recommend this to any fan of dystopian fiction, cyberpunk, or thrillers like Black Mirror or Blade Runner. You will not be disappointed

This was my first experience with this author's work. The audiobook was short, but the brief introduction opened a world of possibilities and complex worldbuilding. I was intrigued by the characters Min and Lez, and this brief story has made me wonder about their backstories, and how they came to be where they were in this tale. I thought Hilary White's narration was good, and her performance enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

Act & Vist was such an engaging listen that I finished it in no time but felt fully immersed in its world. I liked most was how the author created a sense of urgency and high stakes despite the story being a short prequel. The characters, especially Min and Lez, felt real and relatable, and their mission to save humanity added both tension and heart to the narrative. This prequel sets the stage brilliantly for the full series.
