After losing her mother early in the journey to Oregon, Adella is left to grieve with her stepfather and two cruel stepsisters. At the end of each day, frustration and exhaustion threaten to destroy the kindness she’d grown up learning from her mother.

Finding comfort in the stars and the unexpected friend that comes into her life, Adella continues the trying journey to Oregon, not sure what to expect when she gets there.

Patrick is no stranger to moving from place to place. From a young age, covered wagons and bonfires have been his home, as his father settled his family in new places. But the trip to Oregon is much harder than he’d been expecting.

As the Captain’s son, he has many responsibilities around camp and he keeps his focus on helping fellow travellers. Until one night he meets a strange girl who talks of stars and dreams.
