The Battle of Adwalton Moor, fought five miles south east of Bradford in June 1643, has historically been accorded no more than a regional significance. Overshadowed by the larger and more famous conrontations of Edgehill, Marston Moor and Naseby, Adwalton Moor has become the 'forgotten battle' of Britain's Civil Wars. Yet in this new book David Johnson not only recounts the fighting in the greatest detail hitherto attempted, but demonstrates for the first time how the political repercusions of Adwalton Moor fundamentally altered the course of the English Civil War. David Johnson graduated from the University of Hull with a BA (hons) in Economic and Social History in 1981 and an MA in Historical Research in 2000. He is currently at the University of York investigating the origins and causes of the Parliamentarian military crisis of 1643. David is married and lives in York. Europe Great Britain War Civil War
