So glad I downloaded this book!

Gabriela tells her story of being a female entrepreneur in the United States after growing up in the communist Czech Republic. Her story is captivating, empowering, relatable, and at times funny. I loved that she narrated her story. Hearing her tell her story in her voice and accent made me feel connected and made it real. The book tells the story of her life, accomplishments, and heartaches. Any entrepreneur or woman can find insight and encouragement in her story. It is a short listen and was well worth my time. There are so many entertaining books you can read that leave you feeling you are not a better person for reading them. This book is different. It will keep you engaged and leave you wanting to live in the moment and appreciate all you have.

Captivating Story of Success

I read the book and I was just simply immersed in Gabriela' story, a story that you can't stop reading. The experience of listening her book with her voice, was totally different, it made me feel like I was there living her story. How can a little girl grew up so fast to become a woman and break her whole world by having to change her beliefs in such a way!? Her resilience capacity, her emotional intelligence, her family, her character, all these and love took her to where she is now... It just makes me admire her more. It makes me understand how things are possible when you open your mind and become aware.
This book is definitely a book you should read and listen many times, this is a powerful story, this is the book that I have next to my bed and now it goes with me everywhere through the audible experience. This, is a highly recommended book to have and to read every time you feel that after falling in life you can't go on.

A different perspective

Loved this personal perspective on her youth in communist Czech. So interesting to hear her story and I applaud her achievements

Bravo Gabi for making us think

I loved hearing the writer narrate the story. It made it come alive. Her story is unique and shows that when you are deliberate you can change your life.

Integrity

I loved everything about this book. I enjoyed listening to most of it especially because of her lovely accent.
I also read a couple of chapters. The font was easy to read.
She had a wonderful childhood until she found out that she and everyone in the Czech Republic was lied to by the communists about everything. After the fall of communism she moved to America. She was, and still is a courageous women coming to America unable to speak much English but learning it along the way. I admire how she became a  pediatric nurse and was hired as an au pair for 3 small children for her first year here.
It was fascinating to hear her tell the romantic story of meeting her husband, Gary. I could relate to how they went hunting in south Texas with a group of Gary’s friends. She was the only women in the group that wanted to hunt, clean and prepare the food! She learned how to do all of that from her family. That’s how they lived! One of my favorite quotes was from a friend of Gary’s who said, “If you don’t marry her I’m going to divorce my wife and then I’ll marry her!”
She did so many things with and for children and eventually married Gary and opened The Motherhood Center. It’s been in business for 25 years and it’s a true asset to Houston and an inspiration to many people throughout the country. Gabriela is a wise well spoken, brilliant business women who I respect. I’m fortunate to live in Houston and will soon be instructing Forrest Yoga classes at The Motherhood Center for the second time. I will also be gifting her book and/or suggesting the audio version to my family and friends. It’s a quick read because it’s intriguing and inspiring. It will be easy for me to read it again.
