Rushed Ending, but otherwise good

great up until the last 2 segments, where it started to feel quite rushed. if you're a fan of the movie, and you'll find this quite a letdown, as those are some of the most iconic scenes of cinema of that era. the final rescue followed by the false getaway leading to that final battle all takes place way too quickly in comparison to the rest of the audiobook, not to mention the film in which they really relished the build-up of tensionduring some of these moments such as Ripley's initial encounter with the alien queen.

Just Remembering the Movie

I love this Alien series and I've watched ir several time. The book reminded me the movie again and now I want to watch it another time. I don't mind this version but I'm not sure if the narrator was able to give the right touch all the time. But I appreciate the effort.

I definitely prefer the audible originals made with sounds and different voices though.

Where does Aliens rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of my favorites, having seen the movie when I was 11 and loved the toys when they were available.

What did you like best about this story?

The way the author did the details was quite good, its tough to try and add information what wasn't in the movie it self, like how people look, what they are thinking, ect. but the author did a very good job of it.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The preformance, take if or what it is, I mean I'm no great speaker and not everyone can be a brilliant narrator. The reader of this book did fine though. It does however feel a little melodramatic at times but if you have already seen the movie it's not a deal breaker.

Any additional comments?

Some of the dialouge is changed from the moive, and that's not really a bad thing, plus there is some added in that was not in the movie. Again none of this really detracts from the Book, remember that this is an adaptation of a movie and speaking as someone who has done something along that line I can tell you it's not easy. Over all I love the way the book is written and often use it's style as a template for my Hobby Writting.

What did you love best about Aliens?

Aliens is my all time favorite movie!! i can recite it word for word, hell its the greatest movie ever!!!! BUT THIS IS NOT THE MOVIE!
i have the first print addition of the novel and this is pretty damn good! most people say it sucks because there are no swear words but THIS IS a recitation of the novel NOT THE SCRIPT! don't be biased by having seen the movie but never reading the book.

MOVIES DON'T ALWAYS FOLLOW THE BOOKS! THAT'S WHY THEY ARE CALLED ADAPTATIONS! (GOOD EXAMPLE LORD OF THE RINGS...)

What was one of the most memorable moments of Aliens?

my favorite part always has been when Hudson gives Ripley the unit rundown, "Ultimate Bad-asses! ....sonic electronic ball breakers!.... knives, sharp sticks!...."

Have you listened to any of William Hope’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

FIRST OFF LET ME STATE THAT I HAVE AN APPRECIATION FOR WILLIAM HOPE (aka Lt. Gorman) (and i have his autograph!).. ..
Hope tried to (unsuccessfully) imitate the movie voices and dialogue (including his own) and was hampered by the novelized dialogue; The result is disappointing. I think a reading with less-differentiated voices would suit him much better.
There is no way a single actor can imitate all the great voices in the movie exactly, William Hope tries but it really doesn't work. It's impossible to measure up to his Co-actors from the film in this regard and I wish Hope hadn't tried. he couldn't even properly recreate his own lines as Gorman!

THAT BEING SAID ... Mr. Hope did do a pretty decent Michael Biehn (Hicks) & Al Matthews (Apone)! but sadly fell short with himself (Gorman) :(

i had such high hopes for this audio version, and considering it is THE NOVEL NOT THE MOVIE!! ...i wasn't really let down too much.

This book adds details that were unknown (unless you actually read the book), in the movie There is just no time to go into character's backgrounds. I loved the story of Newt! Getting to know her was a great part of the book and really explained her connection with Ripley.

I liked it and I love the movies but the person reading it was very boring sorry. I think the person who read the first book was better at keeping your attention. still I would listen to it again
