Unexpectedly interesting

I listened to this book with a low expectation of enjoyment due to the fact that I normally listen to more light hearted fair. The narrator was easy to listen to and made the medical side of the book as reachable as the emotional feelings of the mother and daughter. I will be looking for this narrator again.

Heart-wrenching story

I thought this book was about some sort of psychosomatic illness. I was very surprised to learn it was about a disease that causes tumors to grow in multiple parts of the body. The author painted an emotional picture of the trauma it causes for its suffers. Ms. Slaughter's narration did a masterful job of conveying that trauma but also conveying the hope and perseverance of Cari and her daughters.
