From the author of I, Cosmo comes a humor-filled, heart-tugging tale of a genius mouse, secretly freed from a lab, who’s in search of a real home—and a way to free her old friends.

Clementine is different from other mice: she can calculate the speed of light and she dreams in Latin. The scientists say she’s a genius and put her through test after test. Clementine is proud of being a good lab mouse, but she’s lonely. Her only snatches of friendship occur during her late-night visits with a chimpanzee named Rosie. When a compassionate lab technician frees Clementine, the mouse discovers an outside world full of wonders: brussels sprouts, games of speed chess, television fame, and a chance for a real home. But for Clementine, it’s not enough to be free when she knows that Rosie and the other mice are not. This tender, lively adventure story, narrated in letters from a mouse to a chimpanzee, shows us that goodness is something we have to define for ourselves—and that courage and wisdom aren’t proportionate to size.

What a story about friendship and learning. Clementine tells this story with letters to her friend the chimpanzee Rosie. Clementine is freed and finds human friends that take care of her and Hamlet the other mouse from the lab. Clementine learns to play chess. she also gets to help tell the story of her being a lab mouse. This educational information leads to the lab being closed down. Rosie goes to a sanctuary and Clementine visits here there. The story is told via Clementine's letters to Rosie. I listened to this one on Audible, the narration was good.

What a beautifully heartwarming story. It has action that creates anticipation, excitement, and worry. My 6th grade student read the book and asked that I read it too. It was worth the read!

Very interesting and well written. Clementine's take on the world was quite clever and inviting and the person's voice for the audible was spot on. We loved the theme and the plot took us on such an adventurous ride that we did not want to stop listening to it. My daughters and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to every minute. We listened to it in several days due to my younger daughter's attention span not being as long as my oldest. We would highly recommend getting the audible version especially. It was one of our favorites, my oldest's favorite by far.

A very well written and thought out piece of artwork. Clementine (and Hamlet) will surely win your heart over.

I love it in the letters and how she is trying to find her best friend and how it starts off she’s telling about her life and the lab and teaching her her best friend how to talk to her. I love her.
