Caring for your loved one (and yourself) through Alzheimer’s...

Alzheimers books should help everyone involved through this incredibly difficult time. That’s why Alzheimer’s Through the Stages shows you what you can do for your loved one - and yourself - every step of the way. This book’s detailed descriptions of all seven stages of the disease are both helpful and comforting.

With each section divided into three parts - what to expect, what to say, and what to do - this is one of the easiest to use Alzheimers books for caregivers.

Alzheimer’s Through the Stages includes:

  • A complete guide: Go beyond other Alzheimers books as you learn what’s happening and what you should do during all seven stages of the disease.
  • Easy-to-use advice: Detailed guides and sample dialogues help you handle everything from doctor visits to mood swings - making this one of the most useful Alzheimers books.
  • Self-care for caregivers: Discover the importance of your own well-being and how taking care of yourself is critical to successful caregiving. Discover one of the only Alzheimers books that lets you concentrate on what matters most - caring for both your loved one and yourself.

The title says it all. I have just begun my own journey with my mother, moving her across the country to be with my family. She is already beginning Stage 5 and it was hidden by an emotionally abusive recent husband. Besides the guilt, I am also shell shocked daily by all that she needs, we need, and I need. 10 days into caring for her 24/7, I desperately bought this audiobook. It’s the salve I needed. I’m going to buy the paper copy as well. Get this book, you’ll be glad you did.

Peaceful narration of wonderfully helpful book

This book assumes a loving and caring relationship is in place between the caregiver and patient (usually adult child and parent). It is not ideal if you have less than perfect relationship and the caregiver’s role is more obligatory. The narration was great. Soothing. Appreciate the self care focus. But thought there was too much of it.

Good step by step guide

This is a great compact book filled with useful information. It takes you through the caregiver experience and provides ways to be proactive in one’s journey. In addition, there are constant reminders to take care of you as a caregiver.
