If you had advanced warning of the end of the world, what would you do?

Our world faced extermination by a group of infected meteoroids from space, which carried an infection that turned ordinary people into rabid killers. This is a record of how two estranged twin brothers survived the apocalypse. One brother planned for the survival of our species and made ready for the world to come on a small island in Scotland, persevering despite having to manage the utter disbelief of the people around him. The other, having survived a harrowing cacophony of life events, learned to harness his anger and channel it to help those who survived. Together they faced the abyss shoulder to shoulder.

Critic reviews

"An English Apocalypse by Paul J.C. Edge is an exceptional zombie apocalypse story. The word “zombie” is never used as a name for the infected in this book, but the easiest way for me to describe them is as fast-moving zombies." - Scott Cahan, Readers’ Favorite

This is an intersection story about preparing for the apocalypse and what's to come. The writing is well done and the narrator does a great job.

The book is well done. Definitely does get you into the book but it's missing something to draw you in deeper. Overall it is a great book. Definitely would recommend this book.

I found the premise of this book very interesting and salient. The beginning of the book held my interest. But I thought the prepping details dragged on for too much of the book. I would like to have heard more about the characters' feelings. I thought the narrator was very good. I would listen to him again. I received this audiobook as part of a promotion.

I was going to write about how the narrator's choice to have the two main characters sound so much alike made the story harder to follow, but as the chapters progressed I realized that there was no other way to present them. Hat's off to Alex M. Jacobs for a delightful reading with [to my US ears] delicious accents and regional pronunciations. Every action and description sets into motion the next in a sequence of events that, like delicate and intricate origami, fold into the overall story and plot, bringing us deeper into the challenges and setbacks of knowing there is a world-altering event on the horizon, and limited opportunities to prepare for it. There is sense of realism told here, such that it would be believable if we heard these activities on the evening news, that is much appreciated. A thoroughly enjoyable listen. [Disclosure: I received this title for free and listened at 2.1x.]
