A poisoned aristocrat. A fledgling reporter. A scandal to die for.

New York City, 1919. Lillie Mead mourns the love she lost in the war. But when a wealthy British friend offers her a reporting job across the pond, she hopes accepting will help her rebuild her life. She barely has time to unpack before she’s assigned the scoop of a poisoned socialite’s death…

As the clues take a turn for the scandalous, Lillie unearths shocking skeletons in the victim’s closet. But she never expected the threads of the beloved woman’s life to weave with hers. Can Lillie expose the truth before her own death makes the front page?

I greatly enjoyed the book and hope everyone else will also. I look forward to following the characters in the next in the series.

I couldn’t stop listening to the book, I loved the plot and the characters, hard to believe how cruel some could be for greed.

Love the characters

An Unfortunate End is ok but I don't think I will get the next book.

Because the writing style is step-by-step, I’m glad the mystery was interesting. The unnecessarily detailed minor scenes (he did this, then he did that, then he did another thing—just to take his socks off and find a new pair and put them on, etc) make it a slow go. Listen at a faster speed to bring some liveliness to it, and all will be well. A few typical anachronistic thoughts, phrases, and actions, but otherwise, it’s a decent mystery.

Fine
