I've been an Orson Scott Card fan for over 20 years. He is a master of writing about the "big idea" with believable characters. Most of the stories in this collection fit that bill, to a fair degree, although some are more "idea" stories and others are more "character." All are distinctively Card, though. I am guessing that Card wrote some of the stories early in his career. I enjoyed hearing his storytelling skills improve. On the other had, listening to his writing skills develop leaves the listener with some stories not well fleshed out. Also a few stories are surprisingly brutal with unnecessarily vulgar language.

I am a huge fan of OS Card. I own print copies and audible editions of all his work.

This collection of short stories is new and unique. The most original "voice" Card has shown in a number of years. There's a wonderful beginning story examining the nature of heaven and hell. And another about saving the world by killing Richard Nixon. The language is captivating and breazy. Card's original success was with a short story, and he is truly a master of this genre.

These stories are gems and will delight you and haunt you.
