This was my favorite book as a child. Fifty years later, I listened to the audio book because I was looking for something soothing and easy while recovering from a head injury. It's a glorious book, filled with kindness and gratitude, and it's read so beautifully. I think it must have helped me heal, because its kindness, and the way it describes the natural world so vividly. It filled me with peace and good thoughts. A real good choice for readers of all ages, and a fascinating glimpse into life at the time my grandmother would have been a young girl. The narrator made it extra wonderful.

The narrator fully submerged the listener into the story- as a wallflower of sorts. Such a classic story with incredible detail. It provokes a longing for a place one has never been before, yet somehow misses.

Wonderfully narrated and vividly imaginable!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes - it is one of the best youth books in the world.

What didn’t you like about Laurie Klein’s performance?

I thought she started out well but after a few chapters she seemed over-exaggerated and not true to character. Her voice was a little grating and the acting was bad.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes.

Great Book - not so great reading.
