Fire, thieves, and magic, oh my…

The semiannual supernatural auction is a great way to get rid of valuable items, fast. I'm grateful I can use this opportunity to get rid of not only the Geysers: Volume 8, but the weird vortex compact I still haven't been able to open. My luck runs out when, before the auction starts, someone sets fire to the building. This isn't some random teenage prank. In fact, someone uses that fire as a cover to steal some of the more expensive antiques being sold at the auction. Luckily, he isn’t terribly good at this whole theft thing. By the time Blake and several other officers arrive, it becomes clear that our thief might not be the only one stealing artifacts from the auction. Because after he’s searched, my luck strikes again when both the compact and my volume 8 aren't on his person, and he has no idea how they went missing.

Will I finally be free of Geysers Journal, or is it going to boomerang back yet again? Or is there something much more sinister slithering its way around the outskirts of my life?

So, I had a shitty week, at the end of a shitty month, and all I really wanted this week was some good, fun, well-written escapism. When I saw that there was a brand new Jas Bond book out, I knew that at least the next couple of hours were going to be delightful, and I was ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.
So, for starters, this series has it all - a modern fantasy setting, an ever-increasing cast of larger-than-life and memorable characters, a grumpy hero who is charming and gritty at the same time, and (and this is the best part) Mr. Andrew Joseph Perez, a narrator who performs with such vivacity, nuance, and variation that would be SO devastatingly fun to see on the live stage.
Listen to this book, because it's one of the best in the series so far, but first I suggest you go back and listen to the other books in the series, because frankly the perfectly-crafted, somehow both satisfying and infuriating cliffhangers at the end of each serial novelette are part of the charm and fun of this particular series.

I REALLY needed this book.
