This book is about encouragement. It is about the tremendous value of hearing a simple encouraging word and the need for Christians to be encouragers to others. From John Wesley sending a letter to William Wilberforce and encouraging him to press on with his goal to abolish slavery in England to parents encouraging their young son to take his first steps, an apt word spoken, like the proverbs say, are like apples of gold in baskets of silver. Jamie tells the story of sitting in the airport, feeling a little dejected, and having an unknown woman simply touch him on the shoulder as she passes and say, “God Bless You.” That simple action lifted his spirits.
