A gripping and binge-worthy cozy mystery

A dead body in the study, a terrible wrong to put right, and a trail that leads to murder…

London, 1928. Mystery writer and amateur detective Marius Quin is reeling from his friend’s murder in his own home. Forced to stay away from the case, he’s in urgent need of distraction when fate points him towards Felicity Mortimer, a woman imprisoned for poisoning her husband fifteen years earlier.

Marius soon becomes convinced of Felicity’s innocence, and when he discovers a key witness with his throat cut, it’s clear that the real killer is still on the loose. Determined to uncover the truth, Marius drags his partner-in-crime-solving, Lady Bella Montague, (not to forget his basset hound, Percy) to a manor house deep within the New Forest. But what dark secrets are concealed at the picturesque estate where Felicity once lived?

As their search for answers stirs up more violence, can Marius and Bella expose a deadly plot before death stalks the halls of Rhinefield House… again?

A captivating and atmospheric 1920s mystery that will delight fans of Agatha Christie, T E Kinsey, and Lee Strauss.

Another fabulous outing with Marius and Bella. You will not regret joining them on their adventures. I would however recommend reading them in order.

These series keeps getting better. I especially enjoy the final section where the author explains how everything came together. The narrator is excellent as usual. I am beginning to like these series even more than Lord Edgington....didnt think that was possible.

Very Entertaining and Intriguing 10 stars

very little to like. brown's books used to be well written and the characters excellent. sadly he has taken to creating a short story, usually not too good, and made it novel length by padding it with every cliche in the world. they actually havon top of that his use of adjectives is excessive. where one would do nicely he uses three or four. then there is the repetition. same idea over and over between the two main characters. MC doubts everything he says or does. again, same doubts over and over.
saving grace of last few books was the dog Percy. the characters are no longer interesting. he now take stereotypes. twin sons, on nice, one nasty. over powering bitchy aunt. self effacing sister of aunt. i will finish listening as the narration is excellent, all characters well defined. plus i purchased the audiobook.
