As In the Days of Noah

When Jesus spoke the words, “As in the days of Noah,” He provided a profound and sobering parallel between the time preceding His second coming and the antediluvian world that existed before the great flood. This phrase, found in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, serves as a critical warning and a prophetic insight into the spiritual and moral state of humanity at the end of the age. The days of Noah were characterized by rampant wickedness, widespread corruption, and a blatant disregard for divine commandments. Genesis 6:5-7 paints a grim picture of this era: “The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.” This passage reveals the depth of human depravity that grieved God to the point of deciding to cleanse the earth through a catastrophic flood. The parallel that Jesus draws suggests that similar conditions will prevail before His return, indicating a society entrenched in sin, oblivious to impending judgment.
