To assassinate her target, she must marry her enemy.

Azora has dedicated her life to exacting revenge on the phoenix shifters who murdered her parents. When Prince Tarquin of Pyren demands a bride as part of a peace treaty, the elite strike squad of assassins Azora belongs to agree—she's the perfect candidate to eliminate the monstrous shifter.

The traces of Pyrenese blood flowing in her veins grant her immunity to fire and will allow her to slay Tarquin, for a phoenix can only be destroyed by one descended from Pyren. The safety of all Termarth is dependent on Azora to maintain her cover; her true identity must never be discovered.

With the tantalizing offer of peace on the altar, Azora weds Tarquin, knowing that as soon as the peace treaty is broken, either bride or groom will be the first casualty. But just as Azora begins to uncover the man behind the monster, skirmishes erupt throughout the land. When the time arrives to finally eliminate the threat to Termarth, Azora's loyalties are torn.

She intended to gamble her life away, not her heart.

Assassin of Fire and Sacrifice is book five in the Sacrificed Hearts multi-author series, a collection of standalone fantasy romances inspired by monsters of legend and packed with strong heroines, swoony heroes, and sacrificial themes.

This story had me in the edge of my seat for most of the book! As always, Mary throws twists and turns into her stories yet brings them to a satisfactory conclusion. This is a clean fantasy 😁

Intrigue, assassins, and a marriage of convenience

The enemies to lovers trope was hard core with Azora “teasing” Tarquin. Just read, then you’ll understand.

It had me laughing at times from the banter exchanged between characters.

I couldn’t put the book down, and the epilogue was well deserved.

The narrator did a wonderful job reading the story!

Wow, just wow! I absolutely loved this story!

Mary Mecham is a master of banter, and this book is no exception. I love the snarky repertoire and verbal backstabbing when two former enemies must wed in an arranged marriage that's supposed to bring peace to both kingdoms. I enjoyed getting to know Azora's motivations and mindset, even as she begins to realize not everything she's been taught is true... and her husband may not be the villain she's been led to believe... in fact, he appears to be a very decent and altogether swoony prince who is falling for her. What's an assassin bride to do? You'll have to read this to find out! Highly recommended for fans of high stakes, high swoon, no spice romantasy!

A deliciously witty, enemies-to-lovers romantasy!

I simply cannot get enough of these two! Azora and Tarquin are simply the best. I love how at each others throats they were, and how even though they wanted to basically kill each other at every turn, they still fell for each other. The twists and turns at every point had me on the edge of my seat and Mary Mecham has outdone herself once more. And may I just say that Razo is probably my favorite side character ever! The end had me sobbing but I’m glad it turned out happily in the end. And thank you, Mary, for giving us a wonderful epilogue.

I can’t get enough of these two!
