The epic conclusion to the adventures of Vidarr Allefar and the Mid Dreki Realm series.

Magic explodes as Ragnarök approaches. Vidarr must complete the Rod of the Dreki to have any chance of stopping the coming conflagration. The Ice Plains, Jotunn, and a host of vicious creatures stand in his way. To add to his woes, the Vala has the final piece, and the Gods have their own ideas of what should be done. The departed drakes and drekis complicate the situation further.

How will Vidarr assemble the Rod in time? And just where in the Realm is the godly artifact, the Valknut?

The Norns spin madly and death and destruction follow.

One thing is for certain, you can never go home—the same.

You know that feeling you got as a child growing up in the eighties, when you woke up on Saturday’s with the anticipation of watching your favorite Saturday morning cartoon lineup? That was the nostalgic feeling I had listening/reading Rene Vecka’s At Searches’ End, Mid Dreki Realm Book 5 narrated by Duffy P. Weber. It was that same feeling I had listening/reading to Weber narrate Vecka’s entire Mid Dreki Realm series.

The nostalgia of playing Dungeons & Dragons kicked in as well. How could it not??? It was rare, but there were campaigns my DM put my friends and I on where we faced Gods and/or demons, and you had better be not only powerful, but smart enough to fight them (or at least survive their reprisals) or your character was toast! This audiobook series showed how an unlikely character like Vidarr grew to be powerful enough to face the Gods, petty and almost childish as they were. And how his power (and bouts of hesitation) came at a cost.

Much like how I feel now that Saturday morning cartoons are no longer a thing and my days D&D campaigning is next to nil, I would have been disappointed knowing this is the last book in the series, but thankfully, Mr. Vecka has been writing more adventures with his Madcap Adventures series with Rory and Ingefær, two of my favorite characters as it happens.

So my “Saturday morning lineup” and my D&D fix is still something I can look forward to. Thank you for keeping my inner-child alive Mr. Vecka
