Sometimes bad people just need to go down, and for whatever reason, there's usually no one else around to do it.

He just wanted to pass through town unnoticed, but vicious outlaws made his business their own and picked a fight he was desperate to avoid. The worst sin yet, they've targeted an innocent woman and her child in their schemes. Austin must now take up his gun and do what he hates but is better at than anyone else: fight without mercy, fight to the end, and win at all costs....

This audiobook is the first time we meet "the stranger", a mysterious but ruthless killer and self-appointed foe to Austin and his unspoken need to defend the helpless. We'll see him throughout the vigilante justice novels from time to time. And it's really going to set Austin off....

If you like classic shoot-'em-up Westerns, you'll love this Western tale by Clay Weston.

I think Clay Weston is a newer western author. The Mack Austin series seems to be interesting. I am starting off with book one. Mack Austin was raised by a mountain man who taught him to survive in any type of situation. Austin rides into a small town. He sees some men harassing a woman and her daughter so he steps in.

The plot is interesting as are the characters. The author has Austin being a bit shorter than most men. Not your Hollywood tall and handsome hero. That makes a nice change. As with most western stories, this is a story of good verses evil. The book is easy to read and is full of suspense that makes it hard to stop reading. The book is short which makes a great change of pace from all the long books I have been reading lately. My big problem with the book is the constant repeating over and over again of such items as: Austin minds his own business, does not want to fight, he sees everything going on around him etc., etc. I am not sure if I will bother reading anymore of this series as I find the repetition annoying.

The book is three hours and thirty-eight minutes. Chris Sorensen does a good job narrating the book. Sorensen is an actor and audiobook narrator. He has won three Audiofile Earphone Awards.
