After an RPG attack on their barracks in Afghanistan, corpsmen, Amber Fox and Luke Owens wake up in an Army hospital in Germany.

Thus, begins a four-month recovery for both of them. Amber lost her left leg below the knee. Luke's left ankle was so shattered they had to fuse it so he would only be able to walk with a brace.

Amber is from the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. Her parents own a Bed and Breakfast. Holly, her sister who is eight years older, has bullied her all her life. Amber joined the Army to get away from Holly and an ex-fiancé. While recovering at the hospital, Amber's parents are killed in a car accident. The Bed and Breakfast will now be owned by her and her sister. How will she be able to work with Holly? Can she handle the business?

Luke is from California and joined the Army to get away from his two stepbrothers, mom and an ex-fiancée. Luke has decided not to go back to his home but where can he go?

Amber and Luke are building a relationship during their hospital recovery. Since Luke has nowhere to go when he gets out, Amber invites him to come home with her to her parents'

Together Amber and Luke face challenges - recovery, running the Bed and Breakfast, dealing with Holly, being run off the road, lost treasure, a murderer and building their relationship.
