It took an angel to make me believe in love.
As a woman of science, I am an unabashed, agnostic atheist—until I meet my first angel. Aziel, with big, beautiful wings, claims he's here to stop humanity from being annihilated. Sounds impressive, but I have questions.
Full of arrogance and demands, he wants access to my life's work while blaming me for the coming apocalypse. It seems my innocuous signal seeking life beyond our galaxy succeeded. Someone heard my invitation, and now the world is in grave danger.
At least according to Aziel.
As I get to know him, I find myself reevaluating everything I thought I knew. More surprising than my sudden belief in religion, though, is my irrational love for an overbearing angel.
But will he defy Heaven's orders to save me?
Contains mature themes.

Interesting new take

Disregarding that, Lilith is supposed to be some kind of genius, but she is absolutely insufferable, closed minded and slow. She is contrary just for the sake of being contrary. Her interactions with the angel Azael are so stilted and rude, no chemistry whatsoever. Not the kind if character whose head I want to share thru a whole story anyway.
Can't stand the FMC

Angels who are aliens and demons who are aliens and, both suddenly, oops, discover Earth. There is an unbelievable amount of Christian references that the angel intends to validate and enforce, so the aliens/angels, I guess, are Christians. Of all the things we could have taken to other worlds, we take religion? Then, it, begins with an older female lead. I'm truly psyched, I can work with a mouthy older woman who unashamedly owns her sexuality as the lead character. She calls out misogyny, is in a male-dominated profession, and refuses the repeated use of "female" that we tend to find in other popular paranormal romance books. I'm willing to give a little and continue reading. What does "God" do on arrival, HE makes her younger and "tighter"! You gotta be kidding me. And, I'm pissed because Audible does not give refunds when you've paid for a book, so I'm really mad about the money that I lost. A great performance by the narrator. DNF.
Quite Bad and Sadly Can't Return it

The main character is a selfish, conceited, small minded, jaded, liar of a woman. There is nothing likeable about her. She doesn’t become better, it just happens that she gets to see what her selfish actions caused. We are meant to believe that an angel falls in love with her. Nothing she does inspires love. If this series is about how lust-driven, stupid or naive long-lived creatures can be, how perfidious human women are and how it doesn’t matter, then it’s not for me.
The atmosphere is the same as in other books by this author: dark and fuzzy, unreal. Unfortunately, the humour we find in other series is replaced by snark and condescension, so it wasn’t a fun read/listen for me.
Disappointing with unpleasant, condescending and amoral main character
