In Watson v. RNC, the Supreme Court is weighing whether federal election-day statutes override Mississippi's rule that counts ballots postmarked by Election Day and received within 5 business days.

The Fifth Circuit said ballots must be received by Election Day. Mississippi argues votes are cast on time when mailed on time, and postal delays should not cancel valid ballots.
