“And there we were, a group of assorted travelers: each with their own story to tell, united by a common cause. For even though we weren’t immediately aware of it, each of us was searching for the same thing: Love.”
The story begins in the late 21st century. A novelist is being held prisoner near the edge of the asteroid belt by an AI-fueled, totalitarian corporation. His work is set on another planet in a realm that existed in our galaxy, prior to the Big Bang.
Pandara and Koravo are two citizens from Ksevia, a commune hidden in a shifting forest on Tristulle. When the benevolent leadership of Ksevia is overthrown, the two embark on a quest through enigmatic realities to end suffering in the cosmos.
Grafting inspiration from Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist onto the dystopian lineage of Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four, Vold Book’s Stara Detente breaks convention through its unique format: a novel fully scored by its author. John T. Trautman also narrates the work.
