Steph Cloutier: Trail

These days, Steph Cloutier lives in Eau Claire, WI, but she grew up in the Minneapolis, MN, area which is only about 100 miles away from Eau Claire. And she coaches for North Coast Running, a coaching business out of the Twin Cities area of Minneapolis and St. Paul, in Minnesota. With the surge in ice activity in Minneapolis, North Coast Running founder and runner Tyler Morey decided he wanted to do something to support the immigrate communities being targeted by the ICE crackdowns, so he created the Love Thy Neighbor, to benefit the organization Unidos Minnesota. Steph immediately got on board with the effort, and both she and Tyler ran for Love Thy Neighbor at the Black Canyons 100k, which just took place on February14. At the core of all of this is also Steph’s love of running, which these days focuses on trail ultras, but that’s a pursuit she started in 2023 with the very same Black Canyons race: at that time, she ran the 60k. Steph’s running journey, however, began long before that, and she shares about that, too---and how it led to today, with Steph using her running pursuits to make an impact on and show her support for her larger community. How she turned her frustration about wanting to help and not knowing what to do, into action.
