Crystal Waters thought joining the Riverside Kennel Club would mean ribbons, treats, and maybe a little friendly competition.

Instead, she found a body in the ladies’ room.

With her boyfriend, Detective Lance Hendricks, back to full-time duty in Riverside, Crystal suddenly has time on her hands—and three dachshunds who are more than ready to make new friends. At the urging of her friend Linda Hooper, she joins the prestigious local kennel club, where Minnie, Daisy, and Bella quickly steal hearts (and more than a few snacks).

But behind the polished pedigrees and polite applause, tensions are running high. When Crystal accidentally overhears a heated argument between two club members during a meeting break, she assumes it’s just competitive spirit.

Until one of the women turns up dead.

Now the club’s biggest rivalry isn’t about Best in Show—it’s about who had the best reason to kill. With Lance warning her to stay out of it and club members guarding their secrets like prized trophies, Crystal can’t help following the trail of missing money, whispered accusations, and suspicious alibis.

After all, she may not have a championship bloodline—but she does have a nose for trouble.
