Billy Gamble is one of the most interesting characters to fall through the cracks of the historic wild west narrative.
Born in Virginia shortly before the Civil War, he was too young to fight. However, young Billy was impressed by the military exploits of both sides.
Years after the war was over, he became West Point educated until he was asked to leave, in his third year, because of an unfortunate dalliance with a senior officer’s daughter.
Spurned by polite society, he became a minor character in the history of the James gang, followed by being a short term companion of the great Wyatt Earp, as he exacted his revenge against the Cowboys. He was interesting enough to be written about by the great Bat Masterson, which gave him enough notoriety to make life dangerous.
Billy falls into the crevices of obscurity as he struggles to determine whether he is a law man or an outlaw.
It will become his lifelong conflict. To some, he appears as a hero and to others, he is the Devil himself.
Begin to know him as he takes a job with the Yuma Territorial Prison, retrieving escapees, and continuing to learn of that which he is capable, both good and bad.
