He glows in the dark. And everyone laughs at him for it.

Blazwick is a small dragon with a big problem every night; his scales light up silver-blue, and no matter how hard he tries, he cannot make them stop. The other dragons mock him. He hides at the top of Star Mountain, alone, wishing he were normal.

Then a star falls from the sky.

Inside it is a glowing map and a tiny, brave, slightly-too-loud firefly called Pip. The map shows a path to a mysterious floating kingdom above the clouds. And it only glows when Blazwick touches it.

Together, Blazwick and Pip journey through the whispering, secret-filled forest. They encounter shadow creatures sent by someone called Grimshade, who wants the map destroyed. They follow a river that flows upward into the sky. And the stars themselves rearrange to tell Blazwick the truth about who and what he really is.

But when they finally reach the Sky Kingdom, they find it in ruins. A message is burned into the gate. And Pip has vanished, leaving behind only a note with two warnings that will change everything:
