As much as I enjoyed the film, this book is more wonderful by 10! Sweet, funny, charming and an absolutely perfect chapter book for young readers. The female dogs are referred to as “bitch“ which is of course, correct parlance, but it is a bit jarring for today’s kids maybe? As a parent you may want to consider how to handle that or whether you would still like this book, but this story is incredible and I feel like any parent uncomfortable with that term and I don’t exclude myself completely, could, with a very little editing enjoy this absolutely beautiful book with younger readers.

Perfect

The narrator's voice is delightful, perfect for this classic story. My family enjoyed the smart sense of humor, the simple and clear descriptions, and the comfotable pacing of the story.
