Alisdair Baird
On the first day of school, Max’s alarm goes off bright and early. But he is not ready to get back into the routine of a new school year, especially not with all the dangers he has to face.
First, he has to get ready and get out the door before Mom hits 10 on her stress-o-meter and goes nuclear. Then, he has to avoid the Tar Pit of Filmore Middle School and the school’s biggest bully Bart Johnson. There are also Principal Peter’s deafening morning announcements and cafeteria food covered in nacho cheese, which oddly smells like dirty feet.
It is going to be a struggle for Max to survive just the first day.

I enjoy this series as the author, Alisdair Baird gives us reminders of our days long past gone and the friends we had in school. As the main character, Max is fun, honest, and realistic. I love how Baird takes an ordinary boy and puts him through the wringer so to speak. This is a well-written book with the plot simple but poignant.
The narrator, Andrew Roberts, is delightful to hear and he is the perfect Max! He gives a unique voice to each character that reflects their personality. He speaks clearly and with enthusiasm that moves the story along.
I thoroughly enjoy this series and cannot wait for the next. Light, fun, and interesting!
The production and quality of this audiobook are clear and well done. There were no issues.
