Hap Collins has just returned home from a gig working on an off-shore oil rig. With a new perspective on life, Hap wants to change the way he's living, and shoot the straight and narrow. That is, until the man who stole Leonard Pine's boyfriend turns up headless in a ditch and Leonard gets fingered for the murder.

Hap vows to clear Leonard's name, but things only get more complicated when Leonard's ex shows up dead, too. o the police, it is just a matter of gay-biker infighting, but to Hap and Leonard, murder is always serious business, and these hit a little too close to home.

Well-done, narrator Phil Gigante! You gave the main characters life. Hard to imagine that their bodies survived all that violence. Even harder, but you also made me believe they could still function in decent society too. Hats off to you and Mr. Lansdale! Thanks for some fun.

Friends Hap and Leonard face a lot of violent degenerates

Elvis and Joe. Spencer and Hawk. Butch and Sundance.
And now Hap and Leonard. I am on my sixth Hap and Leonard novel in a row, and I never get tired of them. Great male friendships make the best stories, I think. There's humor, reluctance to share feelings--but they do--macho crap. danger, love, sex, adventure, honesty.
They are both middle-aged men with no special skills. Hap is straight and white. Leonard is black and gay. And they manage to get themselves into the worst messes because they are essentially nice guys--Hap nicer than Leonard in some ways, but more of an idiot in other ways. (Just shoot the b-----d, Hap, before he kills you.) I'm not really reviewing Bad Chili, but I enjoyed it.

I love Hap & Leonard

I love the Hap and Leonard series, and this book certainly delivered. Fun and funny but also serious and dark but also full of love for the grit of surviving the human experience.

As always, a most entertaining adventure

Very funny and very graphic violence. The good ole boys cleaning up their neighborhood. Narrator right on target.

Hap and Leonard at it again.
