Oboist Sara Baron is settling nicely into her new life back in her hometown, but when a friend goes missing under suspicious circumstances, her newfound equilibrium is thrown off balance. The police don’t suspect foul play, but Sara gets a bad vibe when she finds her friend Micah blew off a meeting with his dissertation chair and has been ghosting his girlfriend.

Playing amateur sleuth, she uncovers secrets from Micah’s past which make her wonder if she ever knew her friend at all. Meanwhile, Sara has a secret of her own. One which could change her life forever.

This is the first book I've read by this author and the story was enjoyable and didn't require my full attention to listen to it. The story was complex enough to keep my attention. I recommend this book as an easy, enjoyable read or listen to.

This is the third in the series. I found it well written and plotted. The story kept me turning pages to deduce the killer and learn about Sara & Travis, Sara’s friends & family, and future endeavors.

Sara’s friend Aspen is concerned about her boyfriend Micah. She seeks Sara’s guidance and help.
Aspen learns more about Micah after his death. The search is on for was it a suicide or not. It is hard to accept that someone would take his own life. Micah did not appear to be having a difficult time except with his studies.

As the story progresses, we learn there are surprises for a few of the characters. The story has some sad points that reflect on society but overall I found it a worthy read.

I am looking forward to the next installment to see what happens in Sara's life.
