Lady Beatrice Marsham is in quite a coil. No sooner is she widowed from a brutish gambling husband, than her heartless family is forcing her into another horrid marriage. Fleeing by stagecoach to the Brighton seaside, the proud beauty meets Miss Hannah Pym, who is determined to find her a proper match....

The handsome and kind Lord Alistair Munro would be perfect. Unfortunately, he is convinced of the ton gossip that proclaims Lady Beatrice a cruel flirt. Miss Pym, however, is not worried. The lady's hard heart has softened much since coming to Brighton - and though Lord Alistair disapproves of the old Lady Beatrice, by Miss Pym's clever design, he is sure to fall in love with the new and improved model....

This 4th Book in "The Traveling Matchmaker" series is one of the best. The 1st Book was my favorite until now.

I often found myself smiling at the length Miss Hannah Pym will go in her matchmaking. In Beatrice Goes to Brighton, she becomes the target of a ruthless man determined to force Hannah's new friend to marry him, and is nearly killed. Miss Pym gets a big surprise about her "Footman".

A thoroughly enjoyable read by a great narrator.

Excellent!!!

There were a few harder twists... a thing near the end made me gasp. Without spoilers... it makes the overarching storyline a bit more complex. Deep Sigh. I guess I will have to purchase the last 2 books in the series.

Some Harder Twists

In this book, Miss Hannah Pym is on another adventure. This time, with her footman, Benjamin. On the way to Brighton, they meet the beautiful, but cold Lady Beatrice Marsham.
Lady Beatrice is a widow who thought she could live quietly now that her abusive husband is gone. Her parents decided that she needed a husband and fixed her up with another horrible man.
Lord Alistair Munro, a guest at the coaching inn, becomes fast friends with Hannah. She decides in her matchmaking mind that Lady Beatrice and Lord Alistair would be well suited. There are a lot of obstacles and adventures in this story. I fell in love with Benjamin the footman.

What made the experience of listening to Beatrice Goes to Brighton the most enjoyable?

I thought the tale might become too predictable but a couple of twists and turns kept me hooked. I like Miss Pym's adventurous spirit and her ability to make friends no matter what social class.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Miss Pym because I could easily see myself in her shoes.

What about Helen Lisanti’s performance did you like?

She seems to have that upper class royalty in her voice.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Another adventure, another town, another coach

Miss Pym does not disappoint
