By writing down my biggest successes and failures, I hope to help others, especially those entering the workforce for the first time. First, I don’t mean to give the impression that I have all the answers on any particular subject. Because I don’t. What I have is almost half a century of experience working hard to the best of my ability. And in those years, I would like to think I have accumulated enough experience, good and bad, to share with others.
I went from being a ninth-grade dropout to becoming a supervisor in a couple of different companies. I have been fired even though I was good at my job. I’ve been laid off because of who I had been sleeping with. I lied on a job application and then got caught. I’ve had my entire crew walk out on me. I’ve slept with my boss. I hired an actual terrorist. And I have even interviewed a man who was wearing a dress. These are just some of the situations addressed in this book. And I did all this while being gay and right in front of everyone's noses.
