BECOMING THE SPHERE is an eloquent parable that touches upon the meaning of life, love, karma, the nature of consciousness and reality, and life after death, in a simple yet poetic way that lifts the reader's perspective from the seemingly mundane to the wondrous. The protagonist is Doreen Morray, a middle-aged woman who is struggling to come to terms at the recent news that her husband is leaving her for someone else. She is lost and adrift and while in a state of reverie, one summer's afternoon, she dies unexpectedly. As she journeys through the place that exists between life and death, through a landscape that represents her own seven chakras, she meets aspects of her own psyche. While she is led through each successive chakra level, trying not to be drawn into those mesmerising, coloured lights, she learns how each one can affect the body, mind and spirit as well as learning certain truths of existence, all the while striving for the one true light at the top of the mountain. As she struggles against the lures along the way and starts to understand and accept these profound truths, she ultimately comes to realise that life, death, consciousness and reality are truly more wondrous, and the possibilities more extraordinary, than she had ever imagined.
