Fall in love with this audio-first charmer from number-one New York Times best-selling author Susan Mallery!

When Nissa Lang’s house sitting job falls through, she’s left with no place to stay for the summer. While she’s figuring out what to do, her old family friend Desmond Stilling hears about her dilemma and invites her to stay on his palatial estate. Trouble is, Nissa’s always had a crush on Desmond, so she’ll have to keep her feelings under wraps....

Ever since Desmond was shipped off to boarding school as a child, Nissa’s tight-knit family was the closest thing he ever had to a real family of his own. Her brother invited him into their clan, and he’d never betray their trust by giving in to the hidden attraction he’s always harbored for Nissa.

But as the season heats up, the two get to know each other in a whole new way. Will their summer together be fleeing - or will it lead to the love of a lifetime?

Slow burn romance that focuses on revealing long-simmering feelings between Nissa and Desmond and then building their connection.

Susan Mallery is a talented writer with a knack for writing engaging stories with characters you root for. I particularly enjoyed Nissa and Desmond being open with each other and discussing things throughout the book. So many romances henge on mistaken perceptions, misunderstandings and unsaid feelings-- it is refreshing to read about adults acting like adults and actually communicating with each other.

The sexual tension in this story is mild; sex was no more than a paragraph or alluded to instead of described in detail. If you are a fan of "sweet romance" or romance with PG-13 sex scenes, this romance is for you.

Slow burn romance

Started to read this book just to fill my time. Had no idea that I would feel like a teenager who could not put the book down. Brought all those memories of kindness and loving and deep feelings and honesty back. Wish they were not characters in a book so that I could get to know them better and hang out. Love everything about it, including the happy ending. We should have more happy endings in our life. Made me feel/believe that maybe I might have a happy ending too.

This novel is a sweet cheesy ole school romantic escape from the daily humdrum of life. It does have one maybe two steamy scenes but even those spare the some of the most intimate details. Besides those couple scenes this reads like a Lifetime Holiday movie. Not a bad thing really.

Tame, Sweet but almost too cheesy

Nissa is a school teacher who is trying saving up money to travel to Italy. She had planned to house sit for the summer while she rented out her place. The house sitting fell through so she needed a place to stay. Her brother's best friend offered to let her use his great house on the sound. They both had wanted each other years ago, but the brother stopped that. How can they move from there? Can circumstances get them to admit they have a chance beyond the money or lack thereof in their lives? Have fun finding out.

Can they let go of the past?
