This is a story about Bella, a puppy left alone in a dark forgotten alley. She was left alone to die by the breeders. The tiny animal dodged heavy feet and ended up under a park bench in a near by park where she crawled into a paper bag left behind by a careless ‘litterbug’. Harry Belgrave, on medical leave from his job as a Boston Police Officer, noticed a greasy lunch bag moving beneath the bench. He closed his hand around the bag and heard a very weak yelp. He slowly moved his hand inside the bag to retrieve the fur ball from the paper wrapper. To his surprise he pulled out a small pup. Harry pedaled rapidly to his small flat in minutes. He hoped he could revive the animal. He expected the castaway had missed a few meals, but seemed to have an appetite. He laughed when the puppy barked at him while he was talking to her. Harry hugged her and thought to himself, “Everything is going to be okay.” Family Life Genre Fiction Mystery Boston
