In the second decade of the 20th century, major world events resonate even on secluded Stone Mountain where Bessie Elliott lives with her husband Fletcher. She defends a young woman who's in the middle of a controversy that threatens to tear her community apart. And she finds herself involved in the suffragette movement as the women of North Carolina fight to gain their rights under the constitution.

Then when one of her family members makes an appalling decision, one that has the potential to damage a child, Bessie impulsively steps forward to right the wrong.

Love this story! I recommend it to anyone. Well written and couldn’t let it alone.

Wonderful

I really love this series!! You will love these characters and their courage in the face of adversity and struggle. Bessie is a woman ahead of her time and, perhaps, ahead of ours, too. Her care for people, animals and all life is inspiring.

Great Book

Would you consider the audio edition of Beloved Woman to be better than the print version?

The audio version has some editing problems. You can here the narrator say stop edit. Then the sentence starts all over.

Awful Narration

The story was great, but the narrator's voice and weepy pitiful inflection were so annoying I had to return it.
