Some loves never fade, no matter how much time or distance stands between them.

Addison Lawson thought she had moved on. Engaged to a dependable man and settled into her life as a teacher in their quiet mountain town, she’s done everything she can to forget the boy who left her behind. But when Logan Matthews returns home, scarred by war and haunted by memories that refuse to let go, the past comes rushing back with a force neither of them can ignore.

Logan never expected to find peace again, least of all in the town he once ran from. The ghosts of his past—nightmares, survivor’s guilt, and the suffocating weight of what he’s lost—are constant reminders that he is not the same man who left for the Army so long ago. But seeing Addison rekindles something inside him—hope. She’s everything he lost and everything he still longs for. Yet, the wounds he carries run deep, and the love they once shared isn’t enough to fix what’s broken.

With emotions running high and old flames reigniting, Addison is faced with an impossible choice—stay in the safe, predictable life she’s built, or take a chance on a man still battling his demons, still learning how to fight his way home. And for Logan, the fight isn't just for love—it's for his own survival.

A gripping, emotional second-chance military romance, Beneath the Scars is a story of love, healing, and the courage to rebuild from the ruins.

The narrator's ability to captivate the audience was truly remarkable. It was an immersive experience that kept me thoroughly engaged throughout the entire narrative. The quick tempo certainly added excitement, though the story felt slightly repetitive at times. Overall, the experience was still quite enjoyable. The ending left me wanting more.
