Women. Wealth. Power. I can never have enough.

The life of a bounty hunter is never easy. Between chasing after supernatural criminals and doing battle with the rival clan Taran, I have more than enough on my plate.

As if that wasn't enough, I've been thrust into a maze of shadows. An attractive young apprentice, a mysterious changeling, and a diabolical baron will conspire to turn my life upside down and change Sadras forever.

While I navigate this conspiracy and the demons from my past, I'll be forced to confront an even greater power within me.

For I am no ordinary man: I am the berserker, and I've been quested by the gods to restore this forsaken land.

One cracked head at a time.

I like Roland’s books. He’s a fantastic storyteller. Christian’s narration is pretty good. I prefer dual narration but I can’t fault Christian for that.
I thought it was a slow start but picked up about 1/3 way through.

Great story.

This was a really good book. It has a great story line and setup the help give all the character's and places a depth that is sometimes lacking in other books. Even the sex times have a reason besides "you're beautiful and I'm horny". The characters have flaws. The plot line has twists and turns without being overly convoluted. I wasn't a fan of the narrator, but she did a decent job. Which is better than I could do so I'll just shut up about that right now. Overall, a very good book.

More story than romance...Yes!

A little context for my reviews. I always try and take it easy on the first and last book of any series as not everybody makes it to “The End” and the first anything can be a shaky endeavor. With that said the narrator who I am unfamiliar with did a fantastic job in my opinion. The story for whatever reason it makes me think of Shadowrun with perhaps the ugliness of 40K. Basically it's a post-apocalyptic world with magic and fantasy races. There are the provincial territories that are in decline which is why the lady Ranger loses her job and ends up going to the city. The culture shock, as the city is a lot seedier, is real. Our hero is a bounty hunter in said city. A city that is controlled by barons who seemed to specialize in debauchery and criminal behavior. Each part of this city is broken up into territories and there is cold 2 hot war between the baronies. Our hero is also married but is hopeful for the day when he can support more than one wife. His wife is interested in adding our heroes new apprentice the lady Ranger. I won't talk more about the book at this point as I don't want to spoil anything, but I will say that the story is good, and I'm interested in seeing what comes next. In other words, I recommend that you give this book a try.

A fantastic start to a new series

I'm familiar with Roland Carlsson's work, and this too is a great read, however, I must point out that Christian Drerup's performance was too soft for several of the characters. Other than that it's a great story.

Roland Carlsson does not disappoint

Very enjoyable to listen to. Christian Drerup (the narrator) does a good job with the voices.

Really enjoyable.
