Living his whole life on Senelium Station, Jack Carter dreams of escaping the floating city, getting out of the Slums, and finding a planet he can call home. But Jack soon realizes that one must be careful what one wishes for.

Running the corridors of Senelium Station. Begging, borrowing, and stealing to stay alive had become a way of life for Jack Carter after his mother disappeared. Luckily he has a friend in Stella Steel who not only understood what it meant to be from the Under Slums, but she also understood the pain and loss Jack felt.

These two young adults decide to take a chance on each other and stow away on a ship destined for Beta Five, where they plan to start a new life. Yet things never work out as planned. After being discovered on the ship and forced to do labor to earn their keep, the reality of what true danger is meets them on the planet's surface.

Encountering inhuman beasts of half-worm/half-human and snake people, the two soon discover that there is much more to living happily ever after. Especially when everything on the planet is trying to kill you.

However, there are rays of hope. Greggor Stillwater and an android named Quirk offer advice and help when most needed. Perhaps these two young companions will find a way to survive after all.
