Definitely worth a listen

Very fun story. Good life insights along the way. Solid voice acting. Very easy to listen to. A really interesting look into the life of war-torn citizens.

Reader can’t pronounce correctly

Having read this book many years ago, I found the performance to be mediocre at best. The reader has problems with pronunciation of the text. Could have been so much better.

Abrupt ending.

Great story, but ended like he got bored with the characters or plot line.

Where's the rest?

I enjoyed it well enough but it feels unfinished. I really want to know if everything worked out. The reader did a great job and I never felt bored even during some of the slower parts. If the story had an end my rating would be higher.

Fun

A bit of retro sci-fi can be fun now and again, Science fiction stories often say more about the time they were written than about what the future will be like, and this is no exception. Sci-fi authors, especially ones of yore, tend to see the future as being exactly like their present, but shinier. For example, the idea that you'll need physical coins to pay your self-driving taxi.

Not all of this novel ages very well, but it's not bad for the most part. Although the love interest is a minor side piece so easily forgettable that even the protagonist seems to forget about her. What really gets me is that this story really should be a World War II story of someone caught between nations, and not just because many of the technologies referenced here were in the popular consciousness of that era. There hardly seems to be any point in wrapping it up as a sci-fi novel. But, despite my complaining, it was a reasonably entertaining story.
