Her knowledge of a series of car fires has Doctor Trent Henson leaving the safety of her best friend’s car and stepping out into the dark deserted streets of the metropolis night. An established psychologist and life coach, as well as an expert in crisis intervention, she has heard it all and seen it all, having been inside many unhealthy minds. He arrives on the scene to find a woman dead and another slipping in and out of consciousness. Nothing is as it seems. He soon discovers that what Dr. Trent Henson knows makes her a loose end to one of the most powerful men in the city—a loose end that must be dealt with. In a police department knee deep in corruption, there are only a handful of people he can trust. What begins as a moment of offering comfort quickly turns into a need to protect. It was not his district. It was not his case. But after holding her hand, he would not be leaving her side. He had taken an oath to protect and serve. As irrational as it was, he knew he would protect her with his life.
