The Gateway Project is going to save the world.

Maybe.

Dr. Abby Corman has a bold idea: open a stable doorway between our world and an uninhabited parallel Earth. A new world we can use to mine resources to end poverty, grow enough food to end all hunger, and allow for population growth to end overcrowding. What could be a more noble aspiration for a brilliant young scientist?

But the path to hell is paved with good intentions....

The Gateway is in a secure lab in a huge office building in New York. Ultra-modern, impenetrable by industrial spies or foreign agents, totally secure. Once it goes into lockdown for the Gateway test firing, it becomes the world’s largest and most unbreakable vault. Locked doors, though, can do more than keep bad things out. They can keep bad things in.

Bewilderness: Threshold is the first part of a sprawling science fiction epic packed with weird science, corporate greed, betrayal, and horror. An Audible Original by New York Times best seller Jonathan Maberry, author of Patient Zero and V-Wars.

Good story, and I’m looking forward to Part 2... but the narrator’s voice parked on my very last nerve. Overly dramatic in parts and her male voices were grating.

👍 Story 👎 Narrator

This book reminds me a Fold, and 14. I like reading books that open your eyes on what could be. I don't when you leave the reader waiting on the next installment.

Cool story

This was a very good start to what could be a great series. Excellent voice work by the narrator. Now the spoiler.

I can't believe they ended this book a cliffhanger like a dang TV show. Unlike a TV show where I know that I have at best a week or at worst a year for the next episode, I no idea how long before the next book comes. It is a great way to get me interested in getting the next book.

As others have said the narrator wasn't the best I've heard. The story is much less an extension of current science than the Ledger series you might have read. This story actually reads much more like a Jeremy Robinson or Jake Bible thriller. Light and fun, but not something to think on too long.
You can tell this was paid for by Audible/Amazon as there were several rather glaring product placements. Overall it was a fun quick listen, but don't waste a credit or pay for it.

Fun, but no Joe Ledger

I'm hooked and want to know more. Is the "threshold" a time portal as well as? As Bob would say "GIVE!"

I want book 2!!
