I'm finally not alone

I found my being right beside each story, relating with each part of their BPD journey. I now feel that there is a psychologist or psychologist out there who won't be scared or tell me I can't be helped. I've been diagnosed since I was 30. Had a marvelous psychiatrist for 8 years, in a week he passed away. they began passing me along to 6 different APN, I finally got let go cause they had diagnosed me as difficult. Now there is Virtual help. I'll be able to find a psychiatrist or psychologist somewhere in my state for help.Ive listened to a few other books on Bpd but the stories make me feel not alone. thank you Sincerely

True to the Condition

BPD is a difficult thing to overcome. And the stories can be a little graphic at times, but it's true to what the condition is. At first, I wasn't a big fan of Mike Lenz reading it, but I got used to the voice over time. Since most of the stories are from women, it would've been a bit more immersive if it was read by a woman, but Mike does an alright job overall. Definitely good for people who are newly diagnosed and not sure where to go or know that there are others who suffer from the condition and that can get better.

Inspiring

As a clinician, I found this book to be informative and inspiring. I’m definitely adding it to my book list for my clients.

Insightful, informative, and at times confusing

I am forever grateful for the willingness of the patients who shared their experiences and struggles with BPD. It significantly helped me to understand what goes on inside the mind of a close family member and allows for so many light bulb moments for us as we learn about this recent diagnosis.

And a big thank you to the editors John G Gunderson, MD, and Perry D Hoffman for putting this book together!

The narrator did a great job and has a voice that is pleasing to listen to, however there were so many testimonies from females and hearing a male's voice reading them was very confusing. Additionally, there was no translation between the people telling their stories. Listening as an audiobook, made it difficult to differentiate if what you were listening to was a continuation of the same experience or the start of someone else experience. Additionally, you couldn't tell if it was an experience about a male or female, until you heard about wanting to get married and becoming a mother...etc. Again, it was odd hearing that being articulated in a male voice.

Otherwise, the information was significantly insightful and life changing!

Loved it but made me sad

I have BPD I loved this book but it made me sad. The only reason it made me sad was because all these successes with dbt and I did dbt and I feel like it didn’t help me at all. So it made me kinda sad hearing all these successes and Im still suffering. I didnt like how it was spoken by a man as 99% of the stories in here were by females. Im not trying to be sexist this is just my opinion. This book overall is great and gives a huge look what it is to be borderline.
