Louis L'Amour said that the West was no place for the frightened or the mean. It was a "big country needing big men and women to live in it". The two stories in this collection provide a good sample of the kinds of people he had in mind.

In "Ride, You Tonto Raiders", Matt Sabre is a young gunfighter who shoots a man who forces him to draw. To his surprise, the man on his deathbed gives him $5,000 and begs him to take the money to his wife, who is alone defending the family ranch. Guilt, regret, and wanting to do the right thing lead Matt Sabre to make that ride.

In "War Party", a boy on the brink of manhood, a resourceful frontier woman who has beauty as well as fortitude, and a strong male character come together in this powerful, romantic, and strangely compelling vision of the American West.

I enjoy Louis L’Amour stories. I grew up on these stories of the west. My mother had a great love for these stories. So I have read and learned from his stories. I learned that if you must be violent to do so quietly.

Two very nice stories

Part 1/3 of the Big Country series offers a strong woman,a son and the mix of families on a wagon train heading west. It’s classical L’Amour

A great couple of short stories to enjoy

The majority is this book is a typical L’Amour story, enjoyable but nothing special . The final “chapter” is an excellent short story about a family on a wagon train, well worth reading.

I disliked the fact that everytime i like a series or an author and put the books in the library two or three days later there is a charge to hear more. Every month what I have in my library has to be changed! because books that were free no longer are. it's greedy and unfair to listeners. if we pick a book or a series like william w johnstone it turns into a credit system even the dramarized versions. I don't appreciate the greed I see here. I'm ready to switch where I get my books. remember all books go through the library oof congress audible All! People can listen there without being sodomized by your greed also there are other platlatforms that when you pay all the books are free. wth kind of premium membership is this? it's like Obama took over this site . I'm either going to the library or going to another site if you don't change your greedy ways. if a book i pick is free then you change it you should be charged for false advertising and malicious behavior because people should be able to listen for free if when the loaded it the book 📖 was free. 1 credit a month! premium member. my ass.
