Powerfully plotted and funny, Big Fish follows dangerous and mysterious Los Angeles entrepreneur Altmeyer, and his wife Rachel, whose quiet lives in the Hollywood hills are disrupted when a multi-million-dollar gunrunning deal goes bad.

Under most circumstances, Altmeyer might be mildly amused by the audacity of the double-cross. But whoever cheated Altmeyer may also be planning to destroy the world. With so much at stake, Altmeyer and Rachel and their friend, super-agent to the stars Bucky Carmichael, set off on a perilous adventure in search of the identity of the Big Fish. What they find is shocking and horrifying and all too credible.

I was so glad to see that they made Thoms Perry's older books into Audiobooks. This was very good. you could tell it was a older novel. But is had all the elements of a good Thomas book! worth a listen if you are a Thomas Perry Fan. Joe Barrett did an excellent job.

love Thomas Perry

Perry is better than this. Interesting characters, big wind-up, no pitch. There are better Perry books out there.

A let down

This is an early novel by Perry and not up to the standard of The Butcher's Boy, but it was ok. the plot was a bit contrived and didn't flow fluidly, but Perry's humor and engaging characters. kept it afloat.

Not the best Thomas Perry.

This was not the best, not the worst, but could be skipped. The reader has a really raspy voice which is alright for some of the characters and he did a fine job, it was just a little scratchy for me, luckily it's a relatively short book so I managed to finish it. If this was a 10 hour book, I probably would have given up at 2 hours.

OK, but not much more

I have listened to all of Perry's audiobooks and am a big fan. This however was a disappointment. It's just been released as an audiobook but it was actually written in 1985, long before Perry hit his stride. There is none of the hide and seek character of his latest works, and little evidence of the sardonic humor that I usually enjoy in his works. Just a bring down the bad guy novel. Read the more recent works first, and put this last on your Perry list.
