An unashamedly proud, loud, and hilarious novel about a small town that’s forever changed by a big gay wedding, perfect for fans of Red, White & Royal Blue and The Guncle

Two grooms. One mother of a problem.

Barnett Durang has a secret. No, not THAT secret. His widowed mother has long known he’s gay. The secret is Barnett is getting married. At his mother’s farm. In their small Louisiana town. She just doesn’t know it yet.

It’ll be an intimate affair. Just two hundred or so of the most fabulous folks Barnett is shipping in from the “heathen coasts,” as Mom likes to call them, turning her quiet rescue farm for misfit animals into a most unlikely wedding venue.

But there are forces, both within this modern new family and in the town itself, that really don’t want to see this handsome couple march down the aisle. It’ll be the biggest, gayest event in the town’s history if they can pull it off, and after a glitter-filled week, nothing will ever be the same. Big Gay Wedding is an uplifting audiobook about the power of family and the unconditional love of a mother for her son.

I have read and listened to many stories, especially gay romance. This story is by far one of my favorites. Byron created a full cast of characters, each with a developed storyline. This book had me crying one minute and laughing the next. Even the animals had a part. Centered around the acceptance by a mother of her gay son, a relationship we can all relate to whether we had an accepting mother, had a mother who accepted us later on as in this story or longed for that relationship, the author unraveled the conditions placed on her love for her son because of religion and brought us to a place where their relationship blossomed into one we all long to be a part of. Her acceptance of her son allowed the family to expand, the community to celebrate and even brought a new prosperity to the delightful family farm. I loved this story and I can't wait to see what else is available by Byron Lane. I also enjoy hearing stories that are narrated by Noah Galvin.

I thought this was a very entertaining story. It is fun and witty and well written. The narrator is good, but I found that some of his characters sound very nasally like they’re congested. I think the LGBTQ theme was handled well and it was pretty realistic. I would recommend this book.
