My grandfather was the last person in the world I would have ever expected to hear a story about a personal encounter with Bigfoot.

He was a serious man and for him to discuss this ancient & controversial knowledge so openly was astounding. He wasn't mean or abusive, but he had no time for silliness. He never wasted time on unexplained mysteries or folklore. He grew up in an era and in circumstances where silliness was "for women, children, and the mentally insufficient".

He was witness to a world war, the depression, and numerous other major events. Yet he never bragged, told tales or stories, and rarely reflected on the past. In fact, he didn't speak much at all but when he did people listened because he would have something important to say. He was the last person in the world I would have ever expected to hear a story about a personal encounter with Bigfoot.

The story is interestingly written, with quite a bit of build-up to the Bigfoot story, but the reading is smooth, and really captures the reminiscent tone of the period. I’ll be looking for more stories read by Scott Bradford.

Reminisce for few

glad his grandfather shared his story. it shows how a previous generation looked at things differently than we do today. before the big foot term was used. there were many other names used and lots of old newspaper accounts.

great story

A great little tale about a grandfather's encounter with Bigfoot as he pans for gold in California in the 1920's. Reads like a bedtime story, or a late-night tale told while sitting out on an old country porch, glass of tea or lemonade in hand. An excellent debut from an up-and-coming narrator/storyteller, who captures all the voices and feelings of the grandfather and grandson as they relive this amazing and mysterious experience from his youth. 5 stars all the way.
